The Dutchman has been dominant throughout the season and today’s second place in the sprint race made him the Formula One World Champion for the third year in a row.

15 podiums, 13 wins (10 in a row), 11 pole positions and 400 championship points. Three-time world champion Max Verstappen is proving that there are no limits.

With a lead of more than 170 points over the runner-up in the championship and team-mate Sergio Pérez, Max has won his third consecutive title in a season in which he has left little or no margin for his rivals to challenge for the top spot. Pérez started the season with the possibility of challenging Verstappen for the title, but a few races later Verstappen showed that his talent was off the charts, leaving the Mexican in an uncomfortable position due to the difference in results.

With the RB19 perfectly suited to Max’s driving style, Red Bull have found the perfect combination to win first the Constructors’ Championship and now the Drivers’ Championship.

Ayrton Senna and Sebastian Vettel are just some of the F1 icons Verstappen has shattered this season. Today, more than ever, it is confirmed that Max Verstappen’s name, his talent and his thirst for victory will forever be etched in the history of F1’s greatest.

PIASTRI TAKES FIRST WIN IN FIRST YEAR IN F1

The young Australian, who took his first pole position in this morning’s Sprint Shootout, also took his first sprint race win, his first in F1 in his first year in the top flight.

His team-mate, Lando Norris, finished third in a weekend in which McLaren proved they have a good chance of a good result in Sunday’s race.

SAINZ AND ALONSO — POOR PERFORMANCE

Carlos Sainz finished sixth to take three points for the championship in which Ferrari are battling with Mercedes for second place, while Alonso, who started ninth, could not improve on this result and was out of the points in the sprint format. Sainz will start tomorrow’s race in twelfth position, while Alonso could challenge for a podium finish from fourth on the grid.
