Marta García, the first.
Among all the male names in Formula 1 that will be present in Austin this weekend, the name of Marta García stands out.
Born in Denia (Valencia, Spain), Marta was crowned F1 Academy Champion in the inaugural year of the category.
A category created after the W Series disappeared due to financial problems and in which former driver Susie Wolff is putting all her energy into fulfilling her dream and that of many others: to see a woman in Formula One. A dream that is also Marta’s and which is now one step closer to becoming a reality.
Always smiling, seemingly calm and with melancholic eyes, perhaps because of the memory of her time in the W Series, where her fear took her ahead.
Eyes that know that the worst enemy is not on the track, but in her own mind, which had already won her a battle in Austin in 2021, preventing her from competing in the final race of the championship.
“The anxiety didn’t let me breathe”
Sometimes you have to stop and catch your breath to get back on top.
Two years later, Marta has returned to Austin to win the battle against her mind and all its monsters in style, with a pole position and a victory that makes her the first F1 Academy champion, and who knows, in a few years’ time she may be the first to drive a Formula 1 car.
Congratulations, champion.
